Well met, seekers of the extraordinary! It is I, the wizard: arcane artificer, alchemist, diviner, and interdimensional flâneur; a traveler of realms and creator of wonders. Welcome to my tower, a labyrinthine sanctuary of clay and cosmos, where the treasures of my exploits glimmer like a dragon’s hoard.

Born from my exploration of masks, drag, live-action role-playing (LARPing), and archetypes of artists in the contemporary world, the wizard is both my creative alter ego and a conceptual lens. He is my first performance-based character and the imagined creator of my work. The wizard embodies themes of artifice, transformation, and escapism, becoming a figure through which I investigate identity and creativity beyond the boundaries of language and lived experience.

Drawing from a foundation in craft ceramics, my practice integrates archetypal objects: jars, masks, tiles, and statuary, into immersive tableaus that explore the intersection of queer identity, storytelling, and fantasy. These works function as anthropological artifacts and portals into an imagined world: the wizard’s tower. This fictional realm serves as both the source and subject of my work, a metaphorical mind-palace for memory, myth-making, and self-discovery. As I construct his home, the tower has revealed itself as an expansive framework for exploring themes such as non-linear narrative, the projection of identity, transmutation, and the complexities of fantasy.

This process of world-building has inspired the creation of what I call scrying objects: ceramic vessels adorned with panoramic, oil-painted tableaus. Drawing from Greco-Roman ceramics and their non-linear narrative structures, these objects serve as tools for divination; projecting imagined events and locations within the wizard’s mythology. This integration of craft and storytelling mirrors my own nonlinear process of self-discovery as an autistic and ADHD individual. My practice reflects the challenges of navigating a world that often demands the masking of my authentic self, using fantasy as a means to negotiate identity and create spaces for belonging.

Through richly adorned objects, immersive tableaus, and symbolic environments, my work bridges personal myth-making and speculative storytelling. The wizard’s tower is both a sanctuary and a labyrinth, filled with queer opulence and uncanny artifacts. These spaces not only ask, “What is this place?” but also, “Who creates these works, and why?” By inviting viewers into this imagined realm, I aim to blur the boundaries between craft and concept, offering a dialogue between the maker, the viewer, and the fantastical spaces where we explore who we are.
